Gratitude often comes from the customers our entrepreneurs serve when they share their stories of how their lives have changed.
Before he purchased his solar lantern from Solar Sister Entrepreneur Rhoda Mmasi, Noah Yohnna in Tanzania said that his children had developed a cough that would not go away because of the smoke from the kerosene lanterns they used in the house. Now, with the solar lamp, the children have no cough symptoms and can study at night.
“I save money from buying kerosene and paraffin and batteries. I like solar lanterns because they are safe and durable. That is what convinced me to buy the lanterns,” Noah says. ” Plus, the solar lantern is helpful on the farm. It stays on for long hours, and it is bright. I plan to buy another lamp and hang it up in a tree near the maize and other crops. It helps to scare off the monkeys.”
“My son sells solar lanterns, but they are not as good a quality as these, so I purchased this one from Solar Sister.”
Noah adds, “I even dropped this light about ten times, and it is still working.”
As those in North America prepare for the season of gratitude, we at Solar Sister want to pause in acknowledgement and share our gratitude for your support of our work throughout 2022. With your support, Solar Sister has empowered over 8,000 women entrepreneurs to share clean energy with their communities, impacting more than 3.4 million people throughout sub-Saharan Africa. Additionally, in 2022, your support allowed our expansion into Kenya, reaching even more individuals with opportunities to start clean energy businesses. Without you, our work would not be possible.
From the women entrepreneurs we serve, and from our staff both here and abroad, we are so grateful for your support. Thank you!
