Salimata, Never Met A Stranger

January 20, 2022

Salimata, a natural businesswoman, is one of the most successful Solar Sister entrepreneurs in Plateau State in central Nigeria. Salimata teaches Arabic studies at the local primary school, brings up five children, and manages a small shop in the market.

“I do a lot of business – I sell shoes and clothes, jewelry and palm oil. Now I also sell solar products!”

She became a Solar Sister entrepreneur in February 2017 and hasn’t looked back.

“My secret is the relationships I build with my customers. These relationships are my strong point. Sometimes even if I don’t know someone, I approach them as if I’ve known them for a long time. People even think maybe we went to primary school together! I speak to them as if we are old friends, and they trust me.”

Like other Solar Sister Entrepreneurs, Salimata transforms her community one woman, one friend at a time. Solar Sister is rooted in the values that Salimata practices every day, Sisterhood, Trust, and Grit.
