Solar Sister Welcomes Olasimbo Sojinrin as its new CEO

We are thrilled to announce that Ms. Olasimbo Sojinrin has been appointed Solar Sister’s new CEO, effective January 1, 2025. With over 18 years of experience in sustainable development, gender advocacy, and community engagement, Ms. Sojinrin is uniquely positioned to lead Solar Sister into its next chapter.

Ms. Sojinrin has been an integral part of Solar Sister since 2014 when she served as Country Director for Nigeria. In this role, she successfully established Solar Sister’s presence in the country, building a vibrant team and launching programs that have impacted countless lives. Most recently, as Chief Operating Officer (2022-2024), she spearheaded efforts to expand Solar Sister’s reach across Kenya, Nigeria, and Tanzania, ensuring measurable and sustainable impact.

Her career includes leadership roles with the British Council and Bank of Industry/UNDP, where she focused on women’s economic empowerment, climate justice, and energy access. She also serves as the President of the Women’s Consortium of Nigeria and an adviser to the Renewable Energy Association of Nigeria. Ms. Sojinrin’s contributions have been celebrated with numerous accolades, including the 2017 Ruhr Summit, the 2016 Woman in Energy award by the Nigerian Energy Forum, and recognition as a 2015 Emerging Leader by TechWomen. She is also an Acumen 2020 West African Fellow and Nigerian Leadership Institute (NLI) Fellow.

As CEO, Ms. Sojinrin will oversee Solar Sister’s global operations, continue empowering women, and address energy poverty in underserved communities. She will focus on scaling the organization’s impact, fostering innovation, and ensuring Solar Sister’s work continues to empower women and transform communities.
