Sometimes, opportunity knocks when you’re not even looking for it. For Olukoju Folasade Victoria, it came when Mrs. Odeyemi Grace walked into her school and introduced the Solar Sister clean energy business opportunity that could change her life and the lives of others.
Folasade didn’t hesitate. She seized it.
A year later, Folasade has built something meaningful and become a changemaker, empowering her community with clean energy solutions.
As a civil servant, wife, and mother of two, Divine (14) and Treasure (11), she was always balancing responsibilities, stretching her paycheck, and finding ways to make things work each month. Joining Solar Sister gave her a new way forward, and things changed for the better.
“Since I joined Solar Sister, I’ve gained so much—meeting new people, improving my communication skills, and earning extra income,” she says.
She also gained confidence.
Through Solar Sister’s ‘Yes, I Can’ training, Folasade learned to market her business and sell online. Now, her customers trust her expertise, and her business is growing. She markets her products through door-to-door sales and social media. Most recently, she has taken advantage of Solar Sister’s Digital Literacy training. This training gives her access to credit and ensures that families, especially civil servants like herself, can access affordable solar lamps.
Her bestsellers? Small solar lamps.
“They’re perfect for schoolchildren who need reliable light at night,” she says.
The impact runs deeper than just income.
The extra income has changed things, and Folasade dreams of providing her children with the best possible future. Solar Sister will help her achieve this by giving her financial independence.
“It has helped me meet my family’s needs without waiting for a salary at the end of the month,” she explains.
Her proudest moments? Seeing the direct impact of her work.
“I am solving light problems in my community,” Folasade says with pride.
Each sale she makes is a step toward a future where clean energy isn’t a luxury but a given, a step toward her financial independence and the security of her family.
