Mary Kemuma Omboga, 27, has worked with Solar Sister Kenya for over two years as a sales agent. Based in Kisii, where she was born, she lives with her parents, three brothers, and eight sisters. Mary is the youngest.

“I’d like to open my business one day,” Mary says. “The business training from Solar Sister helped me to learn how to market our products, primarily clean cookstoves, and that training has helped me the most.”

Mary has a five-year-old son, Jepheth. Mary is particularly happy that working as a sales agent for Solar Sister enables her to take good care of her son. With the money she earns from selling stoves, she pays for her son’s school fees and contributes to her family at home. Mary also enjoys meeting new people and this work takes her to different areas of the city.

“I am proud that I can sell well and point out to customers about the stove and how it will save them time and money.”

Mary believes the training will help her attract and keep good customers when she opens her shop.

“This is good work for women. You can make a good living even if you didn’t finish school.”
