Twenty-one-year-old Mary Anyango was one of the first Sales Agents hired at the new Kisumu Solar Sister Kenya office, which opened in February 2022.
Mary lives at home with her parents and five-year-old sister. Her mother owns a grocery shop in town, and Mary’s income helps with her sister’s school fees and enables her mother to expand her shop. In college, Mary studied computer skills but could not finish.
“I really like the life skills that we learned in our training. I’ve learned how to talk with people, to approach them.”
Every month Mary raises her goals to meet more people and make more sales. She hopes to return to school, continue her computer studies, and finish college. Her aim, she said, is to be a secretary.
“These skills I have learned will also help me in other businesses, how to interact with people and feel comfortable meeting different people. I feel good when I have cash at the end of the month and have met my goals.”
