Inibong Young is a Vice Principal in a primary school in the capital city of Uyo, located in Akwa Ibom State in the South-South area of Nigeria.
When she met Blessing Ekanem, now a Solar Sister Business Development Manager, at her school in 2015, she was excited by the possibility of solar lamps.
“In those days, I was a teacher, and even when we gave examinations to the students, there was no light.”
We met Inibong at her school during a break in exams.
“I have impacted so many lives. Recently I went to an interior area of Akwa Ibom State. The people there do not have light. I introduced solar lights to them. I sold so much there! The people now are very happy.
Solar Sister has also had a significant impact on my life. I no longer use a candle for light. I have solar lamps everywhere. I have them for all of my children.
Even in the school! I tell my colleagues about solar lamps. And now, when I give an examination, I use the solar lamps.
The people around me are no longer living in darkness.”
