In 2024, Solar Sister recruited 1,360 entrepreneurs across Nigeria, Tanzania, and Kenya, contributing to our ongoing support of over 11,900 entrepreneurs. These women distributed clean energy products, benefiting over 700,000 people in 2024.
The continued success of Solar Sister’s core model was evident in the growth of product sales in 2024, despite navigating significant setbacks, including catastrophic flooding in parts of Nigeria and Kenya, political instability affecting operations in Kenya, and ongoing economic challenges in Tanzania.
Over the year, our comprehensive support program reached 3,861 entrepreneurs. This included monthly business, leadership, and capacity-building engagements, along with access to technical and marketing tools, mentorship, and targeted business growth initiatives such as our digitization and business booster programs. Together, these efforts enabled our entrepreneurs to distribute 149,098 clean energy products.
We also observed a growing demand for larger solar systems and clean cooking solutions, particularly when offered on credit terms.
Sales of clean cookstoves alone have more than tripled across all three countries over the past two years. In 2025, we will continue to expand our product offerings in these areas and explore new ways to support entrepreneurs in marketing higher-value products.
