Fausta Peter, a pastor’s wife and mother of six children—three boys and three girls—is always busy. She and her husband own a small farm and raise livestock. They live southwest of Arusha, Tanzania, a rural area and a community of farmers. To the north lies the magnificent Tarangire National Park, its wildlife attracting tourists and injecting a much-needed economic boost into the region.
Fausta joined Solar Sister in 2019, and her business took off right from the beginning. Fausta took the training to heart and put it into practice, growing her business little by little.
Smiling, she says, “I succeed in everything I do through Solar Sister.”
Four years later, her business has now expanded to encompass the entire district. Fausta remains steadfast in her pursuit of knowledge, always open to discovering new techniques and ideas. This June, training from her Business Development Associate at her monthly Sisterhood meeting focused on the art of budgeting. This training provided Fausta with invaluable knowledge and insights into effectively managing inventory, capital, and optimizing profitability.
A the same Sisterhood meeting, Fausta shared her experience selling the Sun King Home System, a lighting product that captivated her customers. One of its selling points was the convenience of charging mobile phones, a feature that saves her customers time and money.
Leveraging her extensive network within the community, Fausta can recommend a Village Community Banking group to those unable to afford the system outright, providing a pathway for them to secure loans.
The advanced training through the Business Booster program has helped Fausta update her business plan, grow her customer base, gain a deeper understanding of credit and loans, and use digital tools for marketing and keeping track of sales and customer information.
Fausta adds that expanding her business into new areas is a journey that has brought her increased confidence and a sense of accomplishment.
