Enhancing Compliance in 2025: Key Insights and Recommendations from Our Year-End Employee Survey 2024
63% of respondents rated their knowledge of their role in maintaining compliance at a 5.
As we’ve wrapped up the year 2024, we’re reflecting on our compliance culture and the valuable insights provided by our end-of-year employee survey. Our aim was to assess how well our teams adhere to compliance policies and identify areas for improvement. The findings indicate that out of the 105 total staff members expected to respond, 97 participated, yielding a response rate of approximately 92%. The responses were fairly diverse, encompassing various organizational roles, including Business Development Associates (BDAs), Business Development Managers, Admin, HR, Finance, Development Communications, and Leadership. A notable 68% of respondents were individuals in field staff roles, with the remaining 32% spread across various HQ and leadership roles, indicating a broad representation across the organization. Geographically, the survey responses covered all three operating countries: Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, and the US HQ team. This diverse participation distribution provides a well-rounded perspective, allowing for more comprehensive insights into the organization’s operations and practices.
The survey results revealed clear strengths and highlighted opportunities to enhance our practices in 2025.
Key Highlights:
Across the organization, staff responses revealed several key strengths in our compliance efforts. Notably, our team is already well-versed in compliance policies, and we have a solid foundation of knowledge. The survey results revealed that using a standard 1-5 scale, 63% of respondents rated their knowledge of their role in maintaining compliance at a 5. On the related questions of the confidence in their methods for staying up-to-date with changing regulatory requirements (including training provided by the organization) and their confidence in the company’s data protection measures, an average of 45% of respondents gave a rating of 5.
Looking Ahead: A Commitment to Continuous Improvement
To further strengthen our efforts, we will prioritize ongoing, role-specific training and hands-on experience to deepen our understanding of compliance, as 30% of respondents indicated an interest and need for more training and support on compliance and regional laws. Additionally, we plan to enhance our data protection protocols and provide more robust security training to safeguard sensitive information. As part of our continuous improvement, we will refine our incident reporting system by introducing more accessible channels and ensuring faster, more apparent responses. Finally, we will proactively prepare for regulatory audits by implementing regular internal audits to identify and address any potential compliance gaps. These areas of concentration will be our focus in the coming year, and we are excited about the progress we will make as we continue to grow and improve.
As we move into 2025, we are committed to continuous improvement in all compliance aspects. These recommendations are just the beginning, and we look forward to working together to implement them across the organization.
By taking these proactive steps, we aim to create an environment where compliance is not just a set of rules but an integral part of our daily operations. Stay tuned for updates on our progress and new initiatives to come!
