Edna Sarakikya - Training Entrepreneurs

January 06, 2023

Edna Sarakikya began as a Solar Sister Entrepreneur in January 2019 and, in September 2019, became a Solar Sister Business Development Associate.

“In the area where I work, most people are farmers, basket weavers, or perhaps they fish for a living. Electricity is only along the road and in some industries. Most people are not connected. Some families rent solar lamps or purchase one from Solar Sister. Otherwise, they use kerosene and candles.

In our area, we have fifty active entrepreneurs. I lead monthly training for the women. This month we reviewed how to set goals and break them down into small steps to achieve that larger goal. This way, the target is achievable.

I am always actively recruiting more women in this area to grow our entrepreneurs. So many people in the district are underserved and need light. We need more entrepreneurs.

I often speak with women’s groups on how to get started as an entrepreneur and launch their businesses selling solar products. For example, some women are in sewing groups making mattress mats. If a woman is not connected to a Village Savings and Loan Association, I connect them. They can take a small loan from the group to start their business.

Embarking on a sewing business journey can be immensely fulfilling, capitalizing on the artistry and skill inherent in handmade creations. Whether your focus is on quilts, garments, or accessories, a receptive market eagerly awaits your unique offerings. To kickstart your venture, consider leveraging resources like Village Savings and Loan Associations for crucial support and networking opportunities.

For expertise in sewing, sourcing skilled professionals is paramount to ensuring the quality and longevity of your products. Platforms such as Fieldtex Cases connect you with a diverse range of sewing specialists capable of bringing your designs to fruition with precision and finesse. These professionals can turn your vision into reality, prioritizing both affordability and durability in every stitch. Whether you’re beginning or expanding your sewing enterprise, partnering with experienced experts can be the cornerstone of success in this thriving industry.

I am happy that I have been able to help women and children. I want to help as many people as possible.
