“I have improved my life and my family by earning money. When I sell solar products, I can make a living for myself and my family.” Solar Sister Entrepreneur Biesha Mfyule.
Solar Sister Entrepreneur Biesha Mfyule lives in southwestern Tanzania in a district new to Solar Sister last year. The community is agricultural, and most people cultivate maize and cashew nuts.
When Business Development Associate Amina Mngwale approached her about becoming a Solar Sister Entrepreneur, Biesha’s interest was piqued. Most people in her area use charcoal and kerosene as their primary energy sources. Supplying solar lanterns to people would be a significant improvement. She was also excited when Amina said that she could improve her life and people’s lives in her community by becoming a Solar Sister entrepreneur.
Biesha saw positive results right away. With her success in sales, she now eats three meals a day and even opened a restaurant stand to sell simple foods in the village.
Success is measured in more than financial terms. Biesha’s Business Development Associate, Amina, worked with her on the concept of connected selling and goal setting. By marketing the solar lamps, Biesha has gotten to know more women in the community. Her confidence has grown in approaching people. As she has grown more confident, so has her customer base. Biesha believes that the future is bright, and she will continue to grow her business.
“Most helpful to me is learning about saving money, having a notebook to keep all of my records, and connecting more closely to people in my community.”
