One Pedal At A Time, Bicycle Repair Helps Build The Future

This December, in collaboration with Global Bike, we continued our bike repair training programs. The training equips our entrepreneurs to maintain their own bicycles and offer repair services within their communities, creating an additional income stream. This skill enhancement also elevates their standing within the community.

Our entrepreneurs, predominantly residing and working in remote locations, often need to venture beyond their local villages. In such scenarios, where other transportation means are costly and sometimes inaccessible, bicycles have proven to be an incredibly effective solution. They enable our entrepreneurs to extend their reach, sell their products in a wider market, and thereby increase their earnings.

“I am very grateful for the bicycle training. It refreshed my skills. So, from now on, I am a complete mechanic because I understand everything. I love these training sessions because I started as an entrepreneur and I’ve now added bicycle mechanic to my skills. Repairing bikes for others has become a source of income for me, as shown in my bicycle parts orders. “I am delighted to participate in bicycle training because the bicycle has helped me in household activities such as fetching water and other activities. In addition to these tasks, if the bicycle breaks, I can repair it myself. Also, when people face challenges with their bicycles, they come to me, and I earn income that helps with my children’s school expenses.

I am very thankful for the bicycle program training refresher because it has taken me from where I was. Besides selling solar lamps, the bicycle helps me with important tasks such as grinding maize and doing home activities.
