Benson Banyanya

October 28, 2022

Working in Nairobi as a phone assembly technician, Benson Banyanya, age 26, missed getting out and interacting with people, something he enjoyed. When he saw a poster about selling clean cookstoves and solar lamps for Solar Sister, he saw it as a good opportunity.

Benson moved to Nairobi from western Kenya with hopes of continuing his education. Possibly as a civil engineer. The training offered by Solar Sister drew him in – selling, marketing, business, entrepreneurship, and life skills. As he learned more about clean cookstoves, he became more interested in the product and getting the product to the community.

Benson’s hail-fellow manner, easy smile, and warm personality help him to make sales. He makes new friends where ever he goes.

“I learned how to love my product, “he said. “I like to help people save money and time. The moment when a customer buys a clean cookstove, I feel proud.”

Benson’s future dream? “I am saving to buy a plot of land where I want to build a school for orphans.”
