Solar Sister Announces Promotion of Omowumi Johnbull to Compliance Manager

Solar Sister is proud to announce the promotion of Omowumi Johnbull, who has served as the Admin and Data Systems Manager for Solar Sister, Nigeria, to her new role as Compliance Manager for Solar Sister’s group operations across sub-Saharan Africa covering Tanzania and Kenya as well as Nigeria, effective 5th of January, 2024.

Ms. Johnbull’s journey with Solar Sister began in 2014 when she joined as an Admin, Human Resource Associate, and Shared Services Manager. Her exceptional dedication and expertise swiftly propelled her to the Senior Admin Data and Systems Manager position at Solar Sister, Nigeria.

With over nine years of hands-on experience advocating for renewable energy and women’s entrepreneurship empowerment, Ms. Johnbull has been a driving force within Solar Sister. During her tenure, she adeptly managed a team of three office staff in Nigeria and efficiently oversaw operations from the Lagos office, offering unwavering support to dozens of field staff.

In her new capacity, Ms. Johnbull will play a pivotal role in developing, reviewing, implementing, and enforcing compliance processes across systems, internal policies, processes, and procedures. Her primary focus will be ensuring that risk management and loss containment measures align seamlessly with the organization’s strategic objectives.

Since she arrived at Solar Sister in 2014, Ms. Johnbull and the Solar Sister Nigeria team have achieved remarkable growth and transformation. The operations in Nigeria now span two-thirds of the country, with over 30 dedicated field staff empowering more than 1,500 clean energy entrepreneurs in rural communities.

Ms. Johnbull has been a passionate Solar Sister representative, participating in local and international corporate events. Notably, she represented Solar Sister at the 63rd United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) in 2019, held in the United States of America.

Before embarking on her journey with Solar Sister, Ms. Johnbull held positions as an Admin Officer in the Industrial Metalizing and Packaging Industry and as a Ticketing and Marketing Officer at Travelogue Travels and Tours Limited from 2008 to 2010.

In addition to her career ambitions, Ms. Johnbull aspires to establish her own business, focusing on innovative solutions to address challenges within the aviation industry. Her credentials include a Land Over Aviation Business School Nigeria certification, showcasing her expertise as a seasoned travel consultant.

Described as a true problem-solving enthusiast and a lover of processes and systems, Ms. Johnbull’s boundless energy could undoubtedly power a nation. She is an avid techie and entrepreneurial learner, interested in software, apps, and the latest management, operations, and systems organizing technologies.

Ms. Johnbull graduated with a B.Sc in Business Administration from the University of Lagos and is an Alumni of GWIM 72. Counterpart International (Global Womenlead Institute).

Beyond her professional endeavors, Ms. Johnbull enjoys traveling, singing, culinary pursuits, and spending quality time with loved ones.
