When Alloys Odhiambo was just twelve years old, his world changed. His father, desperate for better work opportunities, moved from Kisumu, Kenya, to the bustling city of Nairobi. He brought his son along so that he could attend a better school in the city. It was a big move, but Alloys saw it as an opportunity to attend a better school and pursue his father’s passion for computers.
As he grew older, Alloys, following his father, honed his skills in computer studies. His father eventually opened a cyber cafe that provided computer training to the community.
But Alloys yearned for something more. That’s when he saw a poster for Solar Sister, a team that offered training in life skills and selling techniques.
He was intrigued by the idea of being part of a team and helping people with sustainable products. Alloys dove in headfirst, perfecting his sales techniques and hoping to inspire others his age. He even dreams of becoming a businessperson and an inspiration to other young people in his community.
“Growing up, it was tough,” Alloys reflects. “But this job has shown me that there are different opportunities.”
For Alloys, challenges are nothing more than opportunities for growth. He is determined to use his newfound knowledge to become a successful businessperson and a beacon of hope for others.
“I want to light the way for other young people,” he declares, “and show them that there are possibilities.”
